Creative Spotlight: Susie Saltzman

Today we are so excited to be welcoming Susie Saltzman! We have loved working with Susie at our workshops as she has provided gorgeous rings and jewelry for our models to wear. Continuing our partnership for 2017 with Susie is a dream come true! Read more about this talented jewelry designer below...

When did you start your business/blog?

The first ring I made was my sister's, over seven years ago!

Take us through your design process. Do your designs come from inspiration in other fields, how do you dream up the rings we see?

I find inspiration all over the place - in architecture, movement, sometimes in a passing conversation.  The most unusual things can be inspiring if you are open to it.  So, when I feel inspired, I do my best to put pen to paper and the designs evolve from there.

Where does your passion stem from?

I love that I get to work so closely with each client I take on, and my passion really stems from understanding each person and helping them create something beautiful and unique that will be an heirloom and symbol of their love that they will cherish for a lifetime.

If you could go back and give yourself one piece of advice what would it be?

Stop waiting!  Often we put things off, out of fear, procrastination, self doubt...an infinite list of reasons.  But if I could go back, I would tell myself (as I would tell anyone reading this) "Stop waiting!" Do what you love and do what you want NOW...even if it's one small step...start pushing yourself in the direction you want to go in.

What is one way you stay inspired outside of your industry/field?

My relationships and friendships really inspire me.  I am so fortunate to have family and friends who make my world beautiful.  I feel love very often, and that keeps me feeling positive, motivated and inspired.

Favorite project AND most challenging project?

Oooh, it's so hard to pick just one, but I would have to say my baby sister's ring...it was both my favorite and my most challenging.  It was my first, so I was learning along the way, but it also was incredibly special, because (1) it was for my incredible little sister but also (2) it was the catalyst for what exists today.  I'm forever thankful for my brother-on-law soliciting my help!

Tell us a little bit about the future...

We are all so excited at the addition of vintage inspired fine jewelry!

What do you envision for the company?

The vision for my company is quite simple but true - I want to continue making one of a kind luxury engagement rings for couples.  I love the process and intimacy of the collaboration; I love it all. And I would consider myself incredibly lucky if I am still able to be doing some form of this work twenty or thirty years from now.  That is my hope!

Thanks for being with us today Susie!
