Last month we hosted our first La Petite Bloom workshop of the year at The Old Art Building in Leland, Michigan. If you've ever visited Northern Michigan, you know what a gorgeous place it is, so it truly was the most beautiful backdrop for our 5 hours together! Our La Petite Bloom events are mini workshops, meant for anyone who wants to get their hands dirty and create for the day. For this workshop, we brought in one of our favorite florists, Jennifer of Bloom Floral Design, and another favorite calligrapher and watercolor artist, Kristin of Sable & Gray. Both of them are SO talented, so watching them share their creativity and tools with our group of 30 gals was a joy.
First up was floral arranging with Jennifer! We took the class outside on the lawn of the Art Building, because we were graced with THE MOST BEAUTIFUL weather! So thankful! Jennifer started off by doing a beautiful demo arrangement, giving instruction and going over her thought process when designing centerpieces.
After the demonstration, the ladies were able to pick out their flowers for their OWN arrangements at our flower bar...the highlight of our La Petite Bloom workshops! Then they head to their table to start crafting their arrangement. It's so cool to see how beautiful each of them turn out! There's never a bad one in the bunch.
After the flower class, we came inside the building for drinks, snacks and some time to network and get to know other creatives. It's so fun to see how many new friends the gals make at our workshops! Ashley and I teach a short session on how to take better phone pictures, along with some photography and design/styling tips and tricks.
Though these small workshops don't have the beautiful gift boxes we gift our attendees with at our Bloom Bash events, we definitely find joy in giving them something to walk away with! We were so excited to gift each guest, upon walking into the art building, with their own jar of local honey, made by Little City Honey Company. (Truly one of the most delicious honey's I've ever tasted!)
Next up was our brush calligraphy & floral painting session with Kristin from Sable & Gray Paper Co. We just adore her feminine style, so we were so glad she taught the ladies both calligraphy AND how to paint florals with pretty watercolors!
Kristin hand drew everyone peonies on watercolor paper, so at the end of the class, the guests filled in the light pencil drawing she did with beautiful color. The perfect take-home piece of art from our class!
We had the best day with all the women who came out to create beauty together!
If you missed this La Petite Bloom workshop, don't worry! Since we had such a huge response to this event, we're adding another one in Grand Rapids, Michigan this November! Keep your eyes peeled for this holiday edition of La Petite Bloom!
